Currently, there are around 232 million people living outside their country of birth. The UN has proclaimed 18 December as International Migrants Day to focus on the large and increasing number of migrants around the world. What challenges do migrants face in the world from the moment they leave their country of birth until their life in a new country? What are their rights? And how is their protection ensured?
This event will focus on migration from a children’s rights perspective and give an insight into the situation of migrants in the Netherlands. Also, a case study is presented. This afternoon will end with the Humanity House journey of discovery, where you can hear, see and experience some of the situations people might have to go through, when they are forced to leave their country of birth due to conflict or disaster.
