Free movie during Night of the Constitution

Our constitution has existed for 200 years. To mark that anniversary, a celebration is planned on 28 and 29 March in the centre of The Hague during the Constitution Festival. The constitution specifies the rules that define our form of government and the civil rights of citizens. On Friday evening, 28 March, we will reflect on that during the Night of the Constitution with a special programme at the Paard van Troje centre and at Humanity House.

At Humanity House, Movies that Matter will screen Het Vonnis, a controversial film and gripping courtroom drama in which a woman’s murderer is released on account of a procedural mistake. As a result, her husband Luc Segers loses control and takes matters into his own hands by taking on the justice system that has failed him.

In conversation with Naema Tahir

By screening gripping films, Humanity House wants to raise important subjects and engage in dialogue with you about them. After the film we will talk with advocate Margje van Weerden and Bas Leeuw (University Leiden). Moderator is Naema Tahir, Dutch author, former human rights lawyer at the Council of Europe.

This film forms part of the Camera Justitia programme of the Movies that Matter Festival, the international film and debate festival about peace and justice. Set up by Amnesty International, the Movies that Matter Foundation wants to raise awareness about human rights through films.
