Hanneke Propitius appointed new director of Humanity House

Hanneke Propitius takes up her new position as director of Humanity House in 1 October. She succeeds Lisette Mattaar, director since 2010, who has accepted a position with vfonds.

Hanneke Propitius (1972) has worked for the past eight years as interim manager and strategic advisor with organizations such as Aids Fonds, MVO Nederland and Doctors Without Borders. She was previously Manager Marketing, Communication & Fundraising with Cordaid. In that capacity, Propitius successfully developed and implemented strategies for fundraising, branding and multi-annual planning.

Nora Stehouwer-van Iersel, Chair of the Board: “We are very happy to welcome Hanneke to Humanity House. With her extensive experience in management positions, broad knowledge of marketing, fundraising and business development and a strong network, we trust that Hanneke has everything it takes to further develop Humanity House.”

Propitius on her new position: “Humanity House is unique in how it manages to involve young people in current issues surrounding conflict and war. It reaches and inspires over 22,000 students annually with an engaging education programme and a unique ‘journey of experience’. Through its focus on humanitarian issues, from personal stories to open-air cinema nights, Humanity House has acquired an essential position in The Hague, the city of Peace and Justice. Together with the motivated team, I will continue down the chosen path of cultural entrepreneurship and strengthen and broaden cooperation with our partners.”
