Can photography change the image on refugees?

Discussion

On 16 & 17 September we organize Studio Aleppo [Den Haag] together with Paradox. Fifty ‘old’ and ‘new’ residents in The Hague are photographed by Robin de Puy. The aim of Studio Aleppo is to make it possible for newcomers and 'older' residents to identify with one another.

We end this weekend with a discussion about the possible impact of this and similar photography project on the social perceptions of refugees within Dutch society. Can photography really make a difference?

With Robin de Puy (official national photographer), Omar Imam (photographer), Donald Weber (photographer and teacher at the KABK) and Joyce Lagerweij (Impact Academy).

We hope you will join the discussion!
