Humanity House screens the documentary "Broken – A Palestinian Journey Through International Law”. The story of Israel’s Wall between Israel and the Palestinian territories has been told from many different perspectives. The documentary ‘Broken’ shows a new perspective: The story of the Wall and the broken promise of international law. In 2004, the International Court of Justice declared the Wall illegal. Now, 14 years later, the Wall is nearing completion. In his documentary, director Mohammed Alater tries to understand how the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice could be so easily disregarded, without action.
The screening of the film is followed by a discussion with the director and international law experts. What does the failure to implement these high-level decisions mean for international (humanitarian) law and its relevance today?
