We hope you will join us at this HILAC lecture. Yves Daccord, Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), will discuss the main humanitarian challenges in the Middle-East.
Talking from his own experiences at the ICRC in Syria, Yemen and Iraq, Daccord will focus on access to victims, civilians’ access to essential services and how to ensure their right to these services, the dangers humanitarians face in their day-to-day work, warfare in cities, and the impact of protracted armed conflict.
The evening will start with an introduction from Dr. Robert Heinsch (Leiden University) on the legal framework of the ICRC-mandate with a special focus on humanitarian access.
