Free, open and secure internet

Conferentie

Global Conference on Cyberspace

Global Conference on Cyberspace representatives from governments, private sector and civil society will gather in order to promote practical cooperation in cyberspace, to enhance cyber capacity building, and to discuss norms for responsible behaviour in cyberspace. GCCS2015 will take place in The Hague.

On 16 and 17 April the Netherlands is hosting the Global Conference on CyberSpace 2015 (GCCS 2015). After London, Budapest and Seoul, the conference will be held in The Hague. With international discussions and debates on cyberspace, the Netherlands wants to position itself firmly in the debate on cyberspace, as an advocate of a free, open and secure digital domain.

The conference will draw around 1.00 till 1500 attendees from more than 100 countries, including ministers from all over the world and representatives from large internet companies.

Internet freedom can help foster democracy, freedom and innovation, as well as social and economic growth. In the Netherlands, government authorities, companies and experts are working to increase openness, freedom and security in the cyber domain. This is often done in collaboration with international partners: in the digital world, national borders don’t exist. The Netherlands wants its approach to serve as an example to other countries. Only by working together can we optimise digitisation opportunities, stand up to security threats and protect fundamental rights and values.
