Liberation Day will get a large-scale celebration in The Hague this year. In addition to the Liberation Festival (Bevrijdingsfestival) on 5 May, the city will organise The Hague Freedom Weeks from 15 April to 5 May. The Hague Freedom Weeks is a series of events highlighting freedom, peace, democracy, justice and the international legal order. There will be more than 40 activities in the form of debates, excursions, performances, films, readings and concerts.
Mayor Jozias van Aartsen of The Hague will officially open The Hague Freedom Weeks on Tuesday, 15 April at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. The Hague Freedom Weeks will close with a bang on Monday, 5 May with the annual Liberation Festival on Malieveld. With free entertainment by top acts such as Gers Pardoel, Di-rect, Julia van der Toorn, Kris Berry and 2 Unlimited. International acts include Baciamolemani (Italy) The Excitements (Spain) and Hollerado (Canada).
