Unfortunately, this programme is sold out. In 1994, an estimated 800,000 Rwandans were killed in the space of 100 days. How does a state that survived mass violence and mass killings build a new future, and what mechanisms does it use for coming to terms with its past? Transitional Justice has many different faces. History has seen (inter)national tribunals, truth and reconciliation committees and local coping mechanisms.

About the programme and speakers

Premiere of the first episode of Love Radio, a transmedia project based on a popular Rwandan radio soap opera. By journalist and filmmaker Eefje Blankevoort and photographer Anoek Steketee. Scott Straus (expert on genocide in Rwanda and author) gives a lecture with the theme ‘20 Years after the Genocide in Rwanda, where do we stand?’. The university teacher Felix Ndahinda (Tilburg University) will reflect on Straus’ lecture.
