Yemen. One of the poorest countries of the world, with a vivid history. Yemen is in a deep crisis, but you don’t hear much about it in the media. We will talk with Yemeni and Dutch aid workers and policy makers. What can they, and we, do to help the people of Yemen?
Five years after the revolution, an estimated 21.2 million Yemenis are in need of humanitarian aid. This is almost 80 per cent of the population. Because of the size of the conflict, and the limited access to the country, it is very difficult to deliver this aid. Furthermore, it is not without risks. Last August, a hospital of MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières) was bombed.
Several speakers will talk about the current situation in Yemen and discuss what the Yemeni need from the international community and the Netherlands. Also the role of arm trade and Saudi-Arabia on the conflict will be part of our debate.
About the speakers
