HUMANITARIAN LAW OF WAR

You and your fellow students can book a presentation and interview about humanitarian law of war, offered in collaboration with the Red Cross. The presentation explains the rules that apply during war and how the Red Cross commits itself to observing them in conflict zones. You are challenged to respond both during and after the presentation.

Rules even apply to the conduct of war. Humanitarian law of war protects millions of people, and protects everybody not involved, or no longer involved, in a conflict. The main rules are simple: 1. Spare civilians, injured and sick soldiers, prisoners of war and medical workers; and 2: Do not use weapons that do not distinguish between soldiers and civilians, or cause unnecessary suffering and damage. This field of law is monitored by the Red Cross, and governed by treaties and protocols. Click here for more information.
