On Saturday 6 October 2018, various cultural institutions in The Hague will open their doors for you between 8 pm to 1 am. With the theme VUUR EN VLAM [FIRE AND FLAME] it becomes a very warm evening with hot art, fiery performances and flaming activities. There is also plenty to experience at the Humanity House. Experience journey
Put yourself in the shoes of a refugee and find out what it is like to leave everything behind. Actors will make this 45-minute interactive experience even more lifelike for Museum Night. During the journey visitors virtually meet eight people from different parts of the world, each with a completely different story. The common denominator? They all ended up in the Netherlands after fleeing.
Dabke workshop
Set yourself ablaze during our enticing Dabke Night Workshop. Dabke, in Arabic literally translated as ‘stamping of the feet, is a modern Levantine-Arabic circle folk dance which is performed in countries such as Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Syria. Dabke combines circle and line dancing and is widely performed at weddings, festivals and other joyous occasions. The basis of this dance is easy to learn and the best part: you never dance alone!
Henna tattoo
Have yourself decorated by our henna artists. In many countries it is tradition to decorate your hands with henna when you get married. On Museum Night, you can have your own henna tattoo created to get you properly ready for the night.
